lighting a candle

These photos were taken to honor the memory of my friend Heidi's two lost babies, Emma and Baby Tucker. October 15, 2009 is nationally recognized as a day to remember all lost pregnancies and children. We keep their memory alive by lighting a candle.

landscapes

Here are three of my favorite landscape photos from our road trip to California, April 2009. I was so excited because the last time I'd traveled by car cross-country was twenty years ago, so the beauty of Western America was a novelty to me.

The long and winding road. West Texas.

A beaut of a butte [silly humor], West Texas.

Photos from our road trip to California, April 2009. [Where have your feet been?]

Somewhere in west Texas, same day.

Outside a gas station in Tuscon, Arizona. Betsy was stretching her legs for a moment.

a hole in the wall

There is a small hole in one of the wood planks in our patio fence. The intentionally blurred subject which was captured through the hole is my husband's project Jeep Cherokee. [July 2009]

southern california, 2007

This was the summer vacation that changed my life. I was born in San Diego and so for me this was a welcome home trip; a sort of pilgrimage. It also happens to be where I met my husband. This particular photo was taken in Del Mar, California. It is the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean.
